China Stamps: Olympics and Ancient Sports

1) China has issued quite a number of sets of stamp for the coming 2008 Olympics. I have recently acquired the following which were issued in 2007.

Date of issue: August 8th, 2007
Denomination: 720 fen
Designer: Ma Gang
Size of stamps: 30 * 40 mm
Perforation: 13.5 * 13

Sheet composition: 20 for Sheet I;12 (2 sets) for Sheet II
Printing process: Photogravure

This set of stamps depicting the six games, i.e. Diving, shooting, athletics, volleyball, BMX, and Weightlifting

2) Incidentally, I also have a set of stamps which depicts olden sports in China issued more than 20 years ago: Sports of Ancient China


The 4 stamps:- 4-1 Bow and arrow
4-2 weiqi
4-3 chuiwan (ball hitting) 捶丸 , an ancient Chinese ball and club game.
4-4 cuju (ball-kicking) 蹴鞠 , an ancient Chinese sport similar to today’s football (soccer).
